Nelson Head Heritage Light House Cottage and Reserve

The reserve for Nelson Head Lighthouse Cottage and Rescue Station Reserve, nestling within its white picket fence, is situated on a lawn headland that rises some 53 metres just inside the entrance to Port Stephens. In 1875, the headland was chosen as the lighthouse site because it provided the best views of the extensive waters of the Port, and still does!

Lighthouse Cottage is a historic lighthouse keeper's cottage offering visitors beautiful views, local history, photographs, maps and information on marine rescue. It operates as a museum of local history.

The working Coastal Patrol radio base, staffed by volunteers, is open to visitors.

Tea Rooms are located adjacent to the museum where visitors can enjoy light refreshments whilst enjoying magnificent views from the covered terrace.
