Current road maintenance
Heavy patching works
Heavy patching involves removing the road surface and breaking up the old pavement using specialised machinery. A binder is added to strengthen the base, then watering and compacting the area. A new surface seal, either asphalt or spray seal is applied to complete the repair. Heavy patching may also involve removing the damage section of the road and filling it with a layer of asphalt that is 50mm to 100mm thick to fix the problem.

Resurfacing Roadworks
A road is resurfaced when the existing surface starts to deteriorate with age and crack. The treatment is placed directly on top of the old surface to keep it watertight and prevent more extensive road failures. A range of treatments are available, with the most common being a stone chip bitumen seal or a smoother asphalt concrete surface.

How will night works affect you?
Road works involve the use of noise generating machinery. We make every effort to minimise noise by completing noisier activities earlier in the night and turn off machinery and vehicles when they are not in use.
Traffic changes
There can be temporary traffic changes to make sure that our work zones are safe. Lane closures and a 40km/h speed limits are in place during work hours which may affect your travel times. We ask that you please keep to speed limits and follow the direction of any traffic controllers and signs.
