Join our library

Our library is part of the Newcastle Libraries network, which means members have access to a larger range of resources in print and online.

Becoming a member gives you instant access to our collection of books, magazines, newspapers, movies, music, our eLibrary and much more.

How to join our library

Join online

Join online — it's free! Complete the online form and you will receive an email with your new membership number.

Join in person

Proof of identity (including name and address) is required to become a member of Port Stephens Library.

For those under 17 years old, membership (including unsupervised access to the internet) must be approved by a parent or guardian.

You will be issued with a library card to bring with you each time you want to borrow. Please notify your nearest library if your card is lost or damaged. A replacement fee is charged for new library cards.

Your card can be used at all Port Stephens Library and Newcastle Libraries branches.

Borrowing information

Our loan periods are:

  • books, CDs, DVDs, audio books — 4 weeks
  • magazines — 2 weeks
  • popular items — 2 weeks (no renewals)

You can borrow up to 40 items at one time with a maximum of 20 items per visit.

Items may be renewed 3 times (excluding popular items) if they have not been requested by another customer.

Self-loan stations are available at Raymond Terrace and Tomaree libraries to allow you to checkout items in 3 easy steps.
