Mayoral academic scholarships

Every year, the Mayoral Academic Scholarship Program offers scholarships generously sponsored by local business to students embarking on their first year of tertiary study.

The Port Stephens Mayoral Academic Scholarship Program gives local students starting TAFE or university the opportunity to receive a $2,000 scholarship to help cover the cost of their studies.

It's a partnership between Council and local businesses to support our next generation of business and industry leaders in Port Stephens.

The investment of one scholarship from a local business makes a big difference to a young person setting out on the next stage of their academic journey. Whether it is a year’s worth of textbooks, a laptop computer or student accommodation — this contribution goes a long way to support local students and encourage life-long learning.

2023 key dates

Applications for the 2023 program will open Thursday 15 December 2022 and close Sunday 15 January 2023.

We want to thank our sponsors, who continue to support educational opportunities for our community despite the current challenges businesses are facing with COVID-19. In particular, thank you to those who have supported this program for a decade now.
