Water restrictions in Port Stephens
Updated: 02 Jun 2022 4:23pm
Hunter Water is calling on Port Stephens and the lower Hunter region to make smart water choices in their everyday lives to help save our precious resource this spring and summer.
These permanent water conservation measures replace Level 1 water restrictions from 1 October 2020.
Smart water choices means:
- Outdoor watering before 10am or after 4pm with a trigger nozzle, sprinkler or irrigation system.
- All hand-held hoses must have a trigger nozzle.
- No hosing of hard surfaces such as concrete, paths and driveways.
- Watering with a sprinkler, irrigation system or hose is permitted any day before 10am or after 4pm.
About Council's water usage
We are working with Hunter Water to formalise our Drought Response Plan, which outlines how we’ll reduce our water usage. We're already implementing many of these changes.
To ensure help save even more water, we're investigating the use of recycled or untreated water, extending our use of bore water and upgrading our facilities.
Remember, it’s up to all of us to love water and save a little more!
