Terrace Reflections bringing art to the streets of Raymond Terrace

A new artwork installation has been revealed in Raymond Terrace today as part of Port Stephens Council’s new Terrace Reflections art project titled ‘Everyday Wonders of Raymond Terrace’.

The artwork has been installed on the wall outside Best and Less in Raymond Terrace to showcase the unique identity and history of the area, acting as a vibrant gateway to the town centre.

Port Stephens Mayor Ryan Palmer said that the exhibition is the first in a series of original exhibitions for the whole community to enjoy.

“The project gives local artists a chance to display their work in an outdoor environment while encouraging the community to engage with the arts beyond the confines of a museum or gallery.

“This first exhibition titled Everyday Wonders is a collaboration between local artist Alysha Fewster and passionate local children, with the help of a few parents. It’s all about celebrating our plant and animal neighbours in Raymond Terrace.

“The children involved in making this work hope that it will act as a reminder for us to care for the amazing creatures and plants around us, and to keep our eyes open to their everyday wonder,” Mayor Palmer said.

Council will engage a range of artists to display works throughout the year using art, photography and socio-history exhibitions as part of the program.

The Everyday Wonders exhibition will be displayed on the site until early December.
