Port Stephens gets behind Farmers Relief Charity Weekend
After the hugely successful Bale Out The Drought event in Medowie which raised $70,000, Port Stephens sporting clubs are now partnering with Council and the local community to raise even more funds for NSW farmers.
The Farmers Relief Charity Weekend will take place on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 September 2018 across the Tomaree Peninsula, with sporting clubs, businesses and community groups all on board.
Port Stephens Mayor Ryan Palmer encouraged the entire Port Stephens community to come along and get behind this important cause.
“Here in Port Stephens, we are well known for coming together to support those in need, and right now NSW farmers need our help,” Mayor Palmer said.
“That’s why Port Stephens Council is supporting local sporting clubs and the community in their efforts to raise money and provide relief to our farmers, who are currently experiencing crippling drought throughout rural NSW.
“The Medowie community have done an incredible job raising $70,000 for those who are affected by the drought. The baton has now been passed to the Tomaree Peninsula to raise as much as we can to help our struggling farmers.
“From golf and bowls to cruising and trivia, there’s something for everyone to enjoy on the weekend of 8-9 September. I’d encourage everyone to come along and support this worthy cause, or donate directly to assist the farmers,” he said.
