Old skate park makes way for new facilities in Raymond Terrace
With the opening of the brand new $200,000 skate park at Boomerang Park and $80,000 skate park at Lakeside Reserve late last year, Raymond Terrace’s old skate park behind Marketplace shopping centre will be removed in February 2018.
The new skate park at Boomerang Park is situated just over 500 metres from the old park and has the added bonus of new amenities, seating and shade.
Brock Lamont, Council’s Community and Recreation Coordinator says that now two new skate park facilities have been constructed in Raymond Terrace, it is time for the old park to be removed.
“The Boomerang skate park was opened to the public late last year and is one of the best in Port Stephens. It’s a multi-functional facility with a bowl, rail, transitions and banks of various difficulty. The park can be used by skaters, scooters and BMX riders of all abilities,” Mr Lamont said.
"Council has also opened the Lakeside Reserve skate park which is targeted as an entry level skate park while still providing interesting elements for more experienced skaters. It is proving very popular with children from the nearby schools," Mr Lamont said.
“Now that our skaters have these fantastic new facilities at Boomerang Park and Lakeside Reserve, Council can decommission the old park,” he said.
