New vision for Port’s sporting complex
The community is invited to have its say on a new long-term vision for one of Port Stephens’ major sporting precincts, the Tomaree Sports Complex, which is now on public exhibition.
Renovated and expanded sporting grounds, new multipurpose amenities buildings, car parking and traffic improvements, accessibility upgrades and improved community and event spaces are just some of the items that have been identified within the Tomaree Sports Complex Masterplan.
Mayor Ryan Palmer says the Masterplan sets out an exciting vision for one of Port Stephens' premiere sports and events facilities.
“This is not just a great plan for East Ward, but it's a great plan for Port Stephens that promises so much more than a sports complex; it will be an event space all year round.
“Council is committed to ensuring our residents and visitors have access to excellent sporting and recreation facilities,” Mayor Palmer said.
Mayor Palmer says the Masterplan sets out Council’s vision for the future of the site, and will be used to support grant funding applications to assist with the delivery of the plan.
“To ensure we attract the funding that will see this plan realised, we need to make our voices heard.
“This is not only an investment in our community, but it will also allow us to attract even more sporting and community events to Port Stephens, which provides a welcome boost to the local economy,” he added.
The Tomaree Sports Complex Masterplan is on public exhibition from Monday 30 April until Sunday 27 May 2018. Visit https://haveyoursay.portstephens.nsw.gov.au/ to provide your feedback.
