Establishment of an Alcohol Prohibited Area (APA) during Australia Day 2019
In accordance with Section 632A(4) of the Local Government Act 1993, Port Stephens Council has declared sections of Nelson Bay and Shoal Bay as an Alcohol Prohibited Area (APA).
The APA applies to public places only and includes Nelson Bay Foreshore, Nelson Bay Beach, Fly Point Reserve, Neil Carroll ark, Bill Strong oval, Ngioka Reserve, Little Beach, Bernie Thompson Reserve and Marrungbangbaa reserve. For more information see our Community safety page.
The APA will operate from 8am 26 January to 8am 27 January 2019 inclusive. During this time, if a person is found carrying alcohol within the APA it may be seized by Police and disposed on in accordance with the Local Government Act 1993.
