Community called on to have its say on the future of Port Stephens
Council is inviting the community to get involved and have their say on a vision for the future of Port Stephens, as set out in a number of key planning documents now on public exhibition.
After extensive consultation at the end of 2017, Council has released its Community Strategic Plan (CSP) ‘Port Stephens 2021-2028: Our place, Our plan’, which spells out the community’s vision for Port Stephens over the next decade.
This document informs many other documents within the Integrated Planning and Reporting (IP&R) Framework, which are also up for public exhibition. These include Council’s three year Delivery Program and annual Operational Plans – detailed plans for the elected Council and organisation, which contribute to achieving the community’s vision.
Port Stephens Council is holding a number of ‘Council to Community’ information sessions intended to give locals the opportunity to ask questions of the Mayor, Councillors and senior staff, and to provide direct feedback on these plans.
Port Stephens Mayor Ryan Palmer is encouraging the entire community to get involved.
“It’s an exciting time to be in Port Stephens – our newly elected Council has a fresh and exciting vision for our region and it’s keen to see positive changes made across the entire local government area,” Mayor Palmer said.
“The Community Strategic Plan sets out the community’s vision for the future of our region, as well as the many challenges and opportunities we face over the coming decade, so it’s important that we get this and our other plans right.
“I would encourage everyone to get involved – either come along and ask questions, or have your say on our dedicated website and be sure to contribute to the future vision of Port Stephens,” he said.
Information sessions will run from 4.30-6.30pm at the following locations:
- Monday 9 April – Council Committee Rooms, Raymond Terrace
- Wednesday 11 April – Nelson Bay Senior Citizens Hall
- Wednesday 18 April – Medowie Community Hall
