$1 m boost to road resealing in Port Stephens
Port Stephens roads are set to receive a welcome boost after Councillors committed at least $1 million to resealing local roads.
Port Stephens Mayor Ryan Palmer said the commitment supported what was most important to the Port community.
“I know how important roads are to our community,” Mayor Palmer said.
“We’ve seen the effects of drought on our environment over a long period. Now the rain is here, we need to put the raincoat on our roads as soon as possible.
Mayor Palmer says the commitment of a minimum $1 million to road reseals comes from the Australian Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program.
“Our current road resealing budget is $1.6 million, so this commitment will allow us to almost double our road resealing program over the next 12 months — a great outcome for our community,” he said.
