Special kerbside pick up of bulky flood-affected waste for residents

Port Stephens residents impacted by the recent flooding can now apply for a special kerbside pickup of bulky flood-affected waste, until 29 June 2025.
Follow these simple steps to lodge your application:
- Apply online via our Flood Affected Waste – Special Kerbside Collection Form: pscouncil.info/specialkerbsidecollection
- Upload photos (up to 10) of your waste
- Our Waste Team will assess your application for approval. If approved, we'll let you know a date range for collection.
Accepted items:
- Damaged building materials
- Furniture
- Carpet
- Mattresses
- Whitegoods
- E-waste
- Garden debris/green waste*
- Food waste*
*While food waste and garden debris/green waste is accepted, for health and safety reasons, we recommend using your kerbside bins wherever possible to dispose of this waste.
Unaccepted items:
- Hazardous waste
- Gas bottles
- Glass/glass panes
- Chemicals
- Asbestos
- Deceased livestock
- Oils
- Paints
- Liquid Waste
- Fire extinguishers
If you're in an area which hasn't been deemed an impacted flood zone, it may be necessary to include photo evidence of actual flood damage (e.g. inundation damage, structural damage, etc) to assist in application approval.

For residents who wish to dispose of flood affected waste at one of Council's Waste Transfer Stations (Salamander Bay and Newline Road), this will be available free of charge until 29 June 2025.
