Kerbside collection of bulky flood-affected waste
Residents with waste affected by flooding can apply for a special bulk kerbside collection through this online application form. Each application will be reviewed individually, and we will prioritise them based on urgency, potential environmental impact, and location.
Residents must provide clear photographs (up to 10) of the flood-affected waste on their property. If you live in an area not designated as an impacted flood zone, you may need to include photo evidence of actual flood damage (e.g., inundation damage, structural damage) to help support your application for approval.
The online application form will remain open until 29 June 2025.
Check out the frequently asked questions for more information.
Please note that this special kerbside collection is exclusively for flood-affected waste and is only available to Port Stephens residents. Businesses and commercial addresses are not eligible for this service.
Residents who wish to dispose of flood-affected waste at one of the Council's Waste Transfer Stations (Salamander Bay and Newline Road) can do so free of charge until 29 June 2025.

Hinton and Woodville supply
- Call the NSW SES on 132 500 and advise that you need flood resupply. NSW SES will give you a Request for Assistance number, called an RFA number. This number is your reference number. Please write it down and keep it in a safe place to quote it to your supplier.
- Ring your normal supplier/store and explain that you are placing a NSW SES resupply order. Quote your RFA number to them, and order and pay for the required goods as you normally would. Please check that your supplier can deliver your goods to a designated central SES staging point for transportation.
- The supplier is to attach a written note to the goods you require. This note is to include the RFA and telephone number of the business/resident receiving the goods.
- NSW SES will seek to deliver goods as soon as possible, depending on resources and weather conditions. It is likely that the goods will be transported by the NSW SES to a central delivery distribution area in your community.
School closures
- Hinton Public School — temporarily operating at Paterson Public School
Waste collection services
To all residents of western Port Stephens (west of the Hunter and Williams rivers):
Your bins will be collected over the next few days. Please place all three of your bins out for collection.
For this special collection, waste doesn't need to be separated. You can place any type of waste into any bin - everything will be collected together and disposed of as general (red bin) waste.
If your bin was missed, please let us know by using Report, Request and Apply.
If you see fallen powerlines, always stay well away and report to 13 13 88 or online at ausgrid.com.au/hazards.
If you see lost dogs in your neighbourhood, please share this on your community Facebook pages to help find their owners.
