Port Stephens Mayor Leah Anderson said the development of a detailed Town Centre Masterplan was a key action from the Medowie Place Plan adopted in 2023.

“This masterplan will provide a clear framework for the future of the Council-owned land opposite Woolworths,” Mayor Anderson said.

“Medowie is the fastest growing suburb in Port Stephens with the youngest demographic. By 2040, the population is expected to increase by 4,200 residents, so thoughtful planning is essential to accommodate this growth,” Mayor Anderson added.

Building on previous feedback from the Medowie Place Plan engagement in 2022, Council wants to check in with the community to ensure as many Medowie residents and business owners have the opportunity to share their thoughts on such an important project.

“We want to make sure everyone has a voice in shaping our town centre’s future.” Mayor Anderson said.

"We want to create a long-term vision for Medowie Town Centre that’s not only a great place to shop, work, and do business, but also somewhere people can come together and connect.

“The master planning process aims to preserve open spaces, the natural environment and Medowie’s unique character that residents love. 

“Key opportunities that can be explored as part of the Town Centre Masterplan are the potential inclusion of a new community events space, playground and skate park facilities, as well as improvements to the community centre and library services,” Mayor Anderson added.

This further community engagement will help shape the draft Medowie Town Centre Masterplan, guiding future development and investment.

“I encourage people to get involved and help us determine what’s most important for Medowie’s growth and ensure the town centre is a place where everyone can thrive,” Mayor Anderson said.

• Online Workshop from 5:30 to 7:30pm on Thursday 28 August
