Beach access at Birubi Headland during October School Holidays
We all love Birubi Beach and know that it gets very busy, so we’re trialling a number of ways to improve the traffic and transport options and visitor experience for Anna Bay during peak periods. This holiday period, parking at Birubi is extra limited due to recent weather events, which have made the lower car park temporarily inaccessible.
Digital signage and traffic changes
At Birubi Headland, we’re trialling the use of new digital and advanced warning signage to guide beachgoers to available parking and to direct traffic safely. We are planning to trial how the new digital signs perform without the reliance and expense of traffic control staff. These signs have been tested with 96% accuracy, and beachgoers are encouraged to comply with the digital and temporary signs to avoid entering a gridlock situation at Birubi Headland and along James Paterson Street, Anna Bay.
We encourage you to take some time to plan your trip, including checking Live Traffic.
Hop on the Birubi Loop Shuttle Bus
This October long weekend, we're trialling the Birubi Loop Shuttle Bus from Saturday 4 October to Monday 6 October, providing a safe and convenient way to travel to Birubi Beach without the traffic hassle.
This shuttle builds on the outcome from the initial trial in Easter 2025 and the route has been expanded and modified to pick up from more locations. We will also be trialling two buses to minimise your wait time, running on a continuous loop.
- Bus 1: 9am to 4pm
- Bus 2: 9:15am to 4:30pm
The primary shuttle drop-off is at Robinson Reserve, just a short walk to Birubi Headland and Birubi Beach.
The shuttle service route includes pick-up locations near holiday parks to take away parking hassles and help keep cars off the road. Simply hop on and hop off from one of the designated shuttle locations:
- 562 Gan Gan Rd, One Mile - Port Stephens Koala Sanctuary
- 545 Gan Gan Rd, One Mile - Bus Stop - Ingenia Holidays Middle Rock
- 432 Gan Gan Rd, One Mile - Bus Stop - Ingenia Holidays One Mile Beach
- 191 Gan Gan Rd, Anna Bay - Bus stop opposite Anna Bay Public School
