Project description

The proposed public amenities upgrade at Fingal North Foreshore (near the Surf Club) is on hold as the land the current amenities building is located on is not a public reserve.

As a result, Council is unable to access the streamlined approval process under the NSW planning framework, and an application for development approval is required. This application must be supported by Crown Lands endorsement before lodgment.

Council has submitted a request to Crown Lands for their endorsement however the timeframe for their response is unknown. Council has also proactively submitted a variation to the NSW Stronger Country Communities Fund to extend the grant funding deadline, noting the current deadline for project completion is 23 May 2024.

Once responses are received from Crown Lands and the grant funding body, a further update will be provided with a revised project delivery timeline.

In addition to the work to repair the landslip area off Marine Drive and the potential rollout of Smart Parking, we’re still planning to replace some park furniture around the existing playground area. However, this work is also pending a decision from the grant funding body.
