Project description

The Victoria Parade pedestrian bridge will be temporarily removed for inspection and maintenance. This work has been planned outside the peak holiday periods for Nelson Bay.

Phase 1 – Removal

The pedestrian bridge is scheduled to be removed after 8pm on 27 April 2022 and placed at Council’s Nelson Bay Depot. Victoria Parade, between Stockton and Yacaaba Streets, will be closed during this time with traffic management in place.

Phase 2 – Engineering Inspection

Both the bridge and support structure will be inspected. Victoria Parade will be periodically restricted during this time with traffic management in place.

Phase 3 – Maintenance

Following the engineering inspections, Council will undertake the recommended maintenance to ensure the bridge can continue to provide access for pedestrians into the future.

Phase 4 – Reinstatement

Once maintenance is complete, the bridge will be reinstated and available for pedestrian use.

Please note: Works are expected to take 8 to 12 weeks, however this will be dependent on weather and the level of maintenance works required.
