Children and family programs

The library provides a welcoming environment for children. Regular activities, special events and school holiday programs are run for children of all ages throughout the year.

Regular programs

Storytime and Craft
A free weekly program providing an introduction to the magic of books and reading for children ages 2 to 5 years.

  • When: 10:30am, every Tuesday during school term
  • Where: Tomaree and Raymond Terrace Library

Read and Rhyme
A free weekly program providing an introduction to books, music and rhymes for carers and their babies ages 0 to 2.

  • When: 10:30am, every Wednesday during school term
  • Where: Tomaree and Raymond Terrace Library

Saturdays are Lego Days
Come along and build your masterpiece.  Suitable for ages 4+.  No bookings required.

  • When: 10am to 1pm, every Saturday
  • Where: Tomaree and Raymond Terrace Library

Kids Crew
A free weekly program for primary school children. Activities change each term and include coding, lego, games, arts and crafts.

* Check with the library for current activities and dates as there may be dates when Kids Crew is not on due to other commitments.

  • When: 4:00pm to 5pm, every Thursday during school term*
  • Where: Tomaree Library and Raymond Terrace Library

BaRK @ Tomaree Library
A free weekly program that allows primary school aged children to practice reading aloud on a one-to-one basis to a trained therapy dog.

  • When:  3:30pm to 4.30pm, every Tuesday and Wednesday during school term
  • Where: Tomaree Library

The Lounge @ Your Library

The Lounge is a safe space for young people to drop in and hang out, make new friends, share ideas and have fun. Enjoy video games, music, board games, access to computers and WIFI.

The Lounge is free and suitable for young people aged 13+

  • When: 3:00pm - 5:00pm, every Friday during school term
  • Where: Tomaree and Raymond Terrace Libraries

Stories in the Street
A free literacy program for children 0 to 5 years in Raymond Terrace and Medowie. We will visit your home (excluding school holidays and rainy days), read to your children, provide craft stencils, song sheets and leave a selection of books that can be exchanged each week.
