From 20 March (weather permitting) asphalting works will be commencing on the Avenue of the Allies (AotA) between the Lemon Tree Passage Roundabout and Diggers Drive intersection over a period of 3 days (also weather permitting).

More details regarding the works can be found below:

Project description

A full road reconstruction and road widening will be completed at the Avenue of the Allies, between Poilus Parade and King Albert Avenue, Tanilba Bay.

Council has secured funding from the NSW Government's Fixing Local Roads program and Federal Government funding from Local Road Community Infrastructure Grant and Roads to Recovery to help fund this project.

The project includes the following:

  • Road reconstruction and widening, from Lemon Tree Passage Road roundabout to King Albert Avenue.
  • Road widening will also include road shoulders and line marking.
  • A flush kerb will be installed in the road pavement edge, with some kerb and guttering as required by drainage design.
  • Roadside open drains will be retained and reshaped to maximize stormwater infiltration into the natural ground.
  • Intersections will be formalized with kerb returns.
  • Minor adjustments to the shared path area for the new kerb installation.

Staged works for Avenue of the AlliesPlease note that there will be some pruning of trees and the removal of three Norfolk Island Pines which are dead or in serious decline. These trees have had an independent arborist assessment done and pose a safety risk to site staff during the project, passing pedestrians and vehicles with drop limbs due to disease and poor health. Trees will be replanted following the completion of this project.

During construction works there will be road closures and detours in place. Access will be maintained for essential services such as emergency services, mail and parcel delivery, garbage collection, and resident access. Construction will be staged and commence from the northern gates. Residents are asked to follow directions of traffic controllers for their own safety.

This project completion is scheduled for early 2024 (subject to favourable weather throughout the project delivery). We appreciate your patience and understanding during these works.
