RV and caravan parking area: An RV and caravan parking area has been proposed on the site of the Karuah Community Centre. Concept includes expanded hardstand areas to accommodate RV and car parking and a new access from Tarean Road. Project is at the planning stage now.
Works have finished on the new playground at Aliceton Reserve, Karuah with some park furniture still to be installed including a water station and picnic settings.
A Master plan has been developed by an external consultant on behalf of Council that formalises Aliceton Reserve transferring this space into a vibrant precinct in line with the Karuah Place Plan deliverables of creating better places and spaces for the community.
We asked the Karuah community in February 2023 about what they would like to see at Aliceton Reserve. We heard that connecting pathways, ensuring netball had a full court for training and playing with appropriate lighting at night, an amenities building, and off lead dog areas were of high priority to the community. In considering your feedback we’ve developed a long term plan for the park called a Master plan.

The Karuah Centre has been identified as the best option for the short-term RV and caravan parking area. For more information, please go to our dedicated project page, Tarean Road, Karuah - RV and Caravan Parking.
In February and March 2023 we undertook engagement to gather your feedback on some proposed changes at Aliceton Reserve and Memorial Park.
Thank you to all those who were involved by making comment on our online mapping tool (193 comments) and/or attending the drop in session (38 people)! Your feedback indicated preference for the preferred playground layout, Option A, with 60% preference for this option.
We also heard some great ideas to improve Aliceton Reserve including:
- Upgrade the skatepark and pump track
- Ensure the hall is for community use or used as a multi-sport club house
- Create community or landscaped gardens around the playground and Aliceton Reserve in general
- Create a track with outdoor gym equipment all the way around Aliceton Reserve to encourage fitness and well-being
- Netball needs a full court for playing and training
- The oval could be a soccer field

In February and March this year, we asked for your feedback on some proposed changes at Aliceton Reserve and Memorial Park to help develop the Karuah Place Plan action. In June, we let you know that following the construction of the new playground at Aliceton Reserve, the playground equipment at Memorial Park would be removed. Works have almost finished on the new playground at Aliceton Reserve with some park furniture to be installed including a water station and picnic settings. We’ll also be seeking community feedback on future amenities for the reserve.
With the Aliceton Reserve playground complete, the removal of Memorial Park equipment happened with short notice last week due to an opening in the contractor's availability and without giving us an opportunity to let the community know.
Vehicles with on-board shower, toilet, water storage, cooking and sleeping facilities, and the ability to generate electricity.
The Karuah Place Plan identified overnight RV parking could stimulate the Karuah economy. Providing parking will encourage people to stop and spend in Karuah that otherwise would of continued driving through. If travellers want to stay longer there are alternative accommodation options in Karuah such as the holiday park.
Council would limit parking to several fully self-contained vehicles per night.
Council is not intending to profit from providing parking. Parking would be free of charge and limited to just the several spaces provided. We want the visitors to spend their money at local businesses.
Council has grant funding to create the parking area and install a dump point.
Following further investigations and feedback received during community engagement earlier this year, we’re pleased to advise that the amenities at Memorial Park will stay.
