Works are finishing up on the new playground at Aliceton Reserve, Karuah. Rubber wear pads were installed this week as well as the soft fall mulch. A general tidy up of the site will see the new playground open next week.

In February and March 2023 we asked for community feedback on some proposed changes at Aliceton Reserve and Memorial Park. Your feedback indicated preference for the playground layout, Option A, with 60% preference for this option. Thank you to all those who were involved!

Works to construct the new playground are expected to begin mid June. The playground, weather permitting, is expected to be operational by early July 2023.

We are now also seeking community feedback on short-term RV and caravan parking, as identified in the Karuah Place Plan. Find out more in the June Project Update and FAQs below.

In February and March 2023 we undertook engagement to gather your feedback on some proposed changes at Aliceton Reserve and Memorial Park.

Thank you to all those who were involved by making comment on our online mapping tool (193 comments) and/or attending the drop in session (38 people)! Your feedback indicated preference for the preferred playground layout, Option A, with 60% preference for this option.

We also heard some great ideas to improve Aliceton Reserve including:

  • Upgrade the skatepark and pump track
  • Ensure the hall is for community use or used as a multi-sport club house
  • Create community or landscaped gardens around the playground and Aliceton Reserve in general
  • Create a track with outdoor gym equipment all the way around Aliceton Reserve to encourage fitness and well-being
  • Netball needs a full court for playing and training
  • The oval could be a soccer field

Council is working to develop a concept plan to illustrate works proposed for Aliceton Reserve. Council will be seeking community feedback on the concept design prior to finalising. We plan to be in touch with the community in a few months.

Vehicles with on-board shower, toilet, water storage, cooking and sleeping facilities, and the ability to generate electricity.

The Karuah Place Plan identified overnight RV parking could stimulate the Karuah economy. Providing parking will encourage people to stop and spend in Karuah that otherwise would of continued driving through. If travellers want to stay longer there are alternative accommodation options in Karuah such as the holiday park.

Council would limit parking to several fully self-contained vehicles per night.

Council is not intending to profit from providing parking. Parking would be free of charge and limited to just the several spaces provided. We want the visitors to spend their money at local businesses.

Council has grant funding to create the parking area and install a dump point.
