The Construction Team completed all shared path works last week and have demobilised from site. Asphalt patching around new kerb and guttering is scheduled to be completed next week with tactile installations and tree planting to follow.

Project details

The shared path project for Fern Bay will be 1.7km long and will provide a much needed safe link for both pedestrians and cyclists.

Stage 1 – Between Vardon and Taylor Roads Commencing in August
This stage involves the construction of a new 430 metre path between Vardon and Taylor Roads. The new shared path will replace the existing narrow footpath and will be suitable for both pedestrians and cyclists. Access to properties will be maintained during the works and stage 1 construction is expected to take 8 to 10 weeks, weather permitting.

Stage 2 – Between Bayway Village and Vardon Road and between Taylor and Braid Roads
This stage will be delivered once the necessary approvals are in place. These sections of path are subject to an Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Assessment and application for an Aboriginal Heritage Impact Permit if required. These approvals can take several months to obtain. It is expected that stage 2 construction will begin in May 2022.
