Changes to drop-off days

To help limit the spread of COVID-19, we've introduced some changes to Council's waste drop-off days to ensure physical distancing which may result in longer wait times. Bookings are now essential for green waste drop off days — phone 4988 0255 to secure your place. 

The below A - Z of waste provides community members with a guide for disposing of their waste and recycling in the safest and most beneficial way.

  • Contact your local police station
  • Free on designated chemical drop-off days
  • Drop off at the local police station

For quantities of 4 or less, you can drop off at the following:

  • Free to drop off at the Council administration building
  • Free to drop off at Raymond Terrace and Tomaree libraries
2020 Mattress free drop off days — 8am to 12 midday

  • Residents wishing to recycle clean, white polystyrene can phone Hunter Pod Supplies at Thornton on 4966 3959 to organise a drop off time. Hunter Pod Supplies will inspect the polystyrene to check if it is acceptable. The polystyrene is recycled into 'waffle pods' for the building industry.

Sharps include needles, syringes, lancets and similar equipment used for healthcare needs for humans or animals, or injecting equipment.
