Pirralea Gardens, Nelson Bay
|Expected start month||Expected completion month||Budget|
|September 2019||October 2019||$40k|
Port Stephens Council has been investigating options to replace the existing boardwalk opposite houses in Primary Crescent, Nelson Bay.
This timber boardwalk and supporting structure, which has deteriorated beyond repair, will be removed due to ongoing safety and maintenance issues.
The current timber boardwalk will be replaced with Fiber Reinforced Plastic (FRP) mesh decking as it does not corrode like timber or metal would in this environment.
We will be replacing the existing timber boardwalk and supporting structure with a garden bed, supported by compacted fill and a low retaining wall. The low retaining wall will be hidden behind the existing Gymea Lillies.
The trees which are growing through the old bed will be planted with native grasses.
