Children's programs and events

All Port Stephens Library branches are closed under the Public Health Orders.  All face-to-face programs and events have been suspended.  Find out more about changes to our services.


Our regular programs

Storytime and Craft
A free weekly program providing an introduction to the magic of books and reading for children ages 2 to 5 years.

  • When: 10:30am every Tuesday in school term
  • Where: Tomaree and Raymond Terrace Library

Read and Rhyme
A free weekly program providing an introduction to books, music and rhymes for carers and their babies ages 0 to 2.

  • When: 10:30am, every Wednesday in school term
  • Where: Tomaree and Raymond Terrace Library

Kids Crew
Kids Crew is suitable for children aged 7 and over. All activities are free unless otherwise advised. Contact the library for further details regarding times and activities.

  • When: 4 to 5pm, every Thursday in school term
  • Where: Raymond Terrace and Tomaree Library

BaRK @ Tomaree Library
A free weekly program that allows primary school aged children to practice reading aloud on a one-to-one basis to a trained therapy dog.

  • When:  3:30 to 4.30pm, every Tuesday and Wednesday in school term
  • Where: Tomaree Library

Stories in the Street
A free literacy program for children 0 to 5 years in Raymond Terrace and Medowie. We will visit your home (excluding school holidays and rainy days), read to your children, provide craft stencils, song sheets and leave a selection of books that can be exchanged each week.
