CanTeen - Hunter & Northern NSW
CanTeen's mission is to support, develop and empower young people living with cancer. They do this by providing an Australian wide peer support network for 12-24 year olds including: patients (young people who have been diagnosed with cancer); sibling & offspring (young people who have an immediate family member [brother or sister, parent or primary carer] who has been diagnosed with cancer); and bereaved sibling & offspring (young people who have an immediate family member who has died from cancer).
CanTeen provides 12-24 year olds a place where they can simply be young people, away from the daily pressures of living with cancer in a hospital or at home.
Through a wide range of camps and programs, CanTeen encourages young people to share their experiences, make good friends and, of course, have fun.
CanTeen's biggest fundraising and awareness campaign is National Bandanna Day which is held on the last Friday in October each year. Volunteers are always welcome.
