The Amputee Association of NSW Inc is run by amputees for amputees. The group is a not-for-profit organisation with a number of affiliated branches throughout NSW and has dedicated volunteers who are available to help provide information and assistance to all amputees in the community.

Established in 1976 by a group of Amputees within the Hunter Region.  AANNR is Incorporated and has Charity Authority to fund raise and is affiliated with the NSW Amputee Association. AANNR supports all amputees and if requested will offer emotional support to their families.  There are no age restrictions. AANNR covers a large region, extending from the northern region of the Central Coast to the west as far as Cessnock and Kurri Kurri and to the north as far as Bulahdelah.

"There is nothing like talking to another amputee. I can't imagine going through this process without the help and emotional support I have received from other amputees who can relate to my own experience".

The group's objectives are to:

  • To ensure that all amputees are provided with current and useful information
  • To raise awareness within the community of amputees and their related issues
  • To advocate for better relationships with government agencies, health care providers and other related organisations to ensure the needs of all amputees in the community are met
  • To build a network of trained volunteers to provide peer support to amputees and their families
