As part of Councils Strategic Planning Team, Social Planning provides advice and direction to Council, customers and stakeholders that inform and guiding decision making processes, determine strategic directions, policy and programs, which help enable the equitable distribution of resources and services across the Port Stephens LGA.
The Port Stephens Community Strategic Plan is Council's highest level document and outlines aims and objectives to meet community focused aspirations. The Community Strategic Plan guides the development and implementation of services, programs and facilities for the community in a way that people from diverse backgrounds and all levels of need can easily engage in and contribute to community life.

As part of Councils Strategic Land Use and Development Assessment processes we also undertake Social Impact Assessments (SIA) reviews, social research and analysis advice. Land use planning when considered with Social Planning guides outcomes that supports our diverse communities. It allows them to be connected, included, safe, healthy and provides equitable access for all people no matter what their background or life situation.
