Notice of intention to treat infestations of aquatic weeds - April

Notice is given that Port Stephens Council intends to treat infestations of aquatic weeds on or in: drains, depressions and waterways throughout the council area.

The herbicides Brush-off (active ingredient 600g/kg Metsulfuron methyl) and or Roundup Biactive (active ingredient 360g/l glyphosate) or other registered products with the same level of active constituent will be used. Qualified staff will carry out the work in accordance with licensing requirements.

Under the terms and conditions of the EPA Licence the following warning is provided to residents in the treatment area: “not to use, drink or swim in the water during the period of treatment”.

Note: treatment consists of spraying weed patches and is dependant on local weather conditions.

Small scale reapplications using hand held non powered sprayers may occur within 30 days of the date of the original treatment. Any further enquiries may be directed to Council on phone (02) 4980 0255 or (02) 4980 0392.
