A lot of our waste can actually be reused or recycled, for example old furniture and working appliances. These can be dropped off at the Salamander Bay Recycling Centre. By reusing or recycling our waste we reduce the amount going to landfill. Please also consider donating unwanted goods that can be reused to other local charities.

All vehicles entering the site will be weighed in and out and will pay by weight and there is a minimum fee for all vehicles

From 1 July 2014 mulch will no longer be available from this site. Changes to NSW EPA regulations requires specific processing of green waste/mulch before use which Council is unable to carry out on site. For this reason all green waste will be removed to an external licensed facility for treatment.

The following waste is accepted at Salamander Bay Waste Transfer Station:

  • Domestic Waste
  • Bulky Waste
  • Green Waste including tree stumps & root balls
  • Household recycling
  • Metals
  • Car batteries
  • Motor Oil
  • Tyres
  • Construction and demolition waste
  • Chemicals

The following waste is NOT accepted at Salamander Bay Waste Transfer Station:

  • Asbestos
  • Ammunition

Salamander Waste Transfer Station Pollution Incident Response Management Plan (PIRMP)

The purpose of the plan is to guide responses to a pollution incident in an effort to minimise harm to health and environment and ensure reporting and notification obligations are met.

Please note, the Lemon Tree Passage Waste Transfer Station ceased operating on 30th September 2009.
