Skateboarding, scooters and BMX riding are popular recreational sports for young people.
Skate parks aim to improve community wellbeing through encouraging families and youth to engage in an active, outdoor recreational pursuit. Skate parks can foster the building of social and interpersonal skills as users interact and become involved with their community. Providing skate facilities encourages skaters to move off roads, footpaths and shopping areas, where they present a danger to themselves and the general public.
Council has seven skate parks that cater for beginners to skilled riders. All skill levels are equally entitled to use the ramps, however skate parks are not an appropriate place for toddlers using mini-bikes or toy riders.
Safety equipment should be worn by all users including:
- elbow and knee pads;
- wrist guards; and
- protective clothing.
Please note - all risk will be assumed by users of this facility.
