Spotlighting Walks

'Creatures of the night' - free spotlighting walks.

Every year in September and October, Council offers free spotlighting walks across Port Stephens to celebrate Biodiversity Month.

Apart from having a great night out, you will learn about Australian fauna, the threats they face and more about the biodiversity of the local area.

Sustainable Living Workshops

Learn how to save money and the environment and its free!

Council is developing and delivering a Sustainable Living Workshop.

The program involves a series of free, hands-on workshops for the community in an enjoyable atmosphere. The workshops aim to help residents reduce their impact on the environment and live a more sustainable lifestyle.

Workshop program included:

  • fermented flavours;
  • growing from seed;
  • soils;
  • permaculture;
  • growing citrus;
  • composting and worm farming;
  • backyard beekeeping;
  • native plants/weeds;
  • fauna friendly backyards;
  • keeping chickens;
  • growing your own vegies;
  • bushfoods; and
  • waste and recycling tour.
