Dickson Rothschild was commissioned by Port Stephens Council to complete an urban design study for the King Street Waterfront Heritage Precinct in Raymond Terrace. The urban design study was adopted by Port Stephens Council on 27th March 2007.
The purpose of the urban design study is to provide a suite of urban design plans, strategies and recommendations to guide the appropriate future development of the King Street Waterfront Heritage Precinct, a historically significant area within Raymond Terrace.
The study also reviewed potential development scenarios for the Hunter Business Centre site on the corner of King Street and William Street, Raymond Terrace. This site has been considered a key development site in the area. It is crucial to have an optimal outcome on this site in terms of best practice urban design as well as feasibility in order to set the tone of future development in the precinct.
The urban design study includes:
-
A comprehensive contextual analysis and heritage assessment of the heritage precinct;
-
A master plan for the precinct that includes key design principles, a public domain concept plan and an illustrative precinct plan;
-
Design guidelines and building envelope controls for the heritage precinct; and
-
A site review and recommendations for the Hunter Business Centre site.
