Heritage Conservation

Port Stephens LEP 2000 (Schedule 2 - Heritage and Part 3, Division 3 -Heritage Provisions) identifies items of heritage significance and heritage conservation areas. There are two Heritage Conservation Areas within the Port Stephens LGA - Raymond Terrace (including Tipperary Hill) and Hinton.
The objectives of the Heritage Provisions within the LEP are to:
- conserve the heritage significance of the natural and built environment and ensure new development is sympathetic to the identified heritage values;
- to provide guidance for development in relation to heritage items and heritage conservation areas;
- to encourage an understanding of heritage significance and promote the conservation of heritage within Port Stephens.
