Tilligerry Creek Committee Calls for Anna Bay MembersLast modified: October 28, 2008 - 1:10 PM
The Tilligerry Creek Committee, whose driving focus is implementation of the Tilligerry Creek Management Plan, is seeking to expand its membership by calling for two representatives from the Anna Bay area. Large areas of Anna Bay drain into the Tilligerry Creek, so input from this group is seen as vital to the ongoing success of the committee. The Management Plan seeks to ensure the long term health of the catchment which supports a wide range of agricultural industries and is iconic to the local area. Having received community submissions and been reviewed by Council, the plan is due to go before Council again in December. Speaking today Natural Resources Coordinator Sally Whitelaw said the Anna Bay community had much to offer in improving the health of the wider catchment. “As the majority of works need to occur on private land the continued improvement of the Tilligerry catchment depends on community involvement,” she said. “The committee is represented by business, council and the broader community as well as stakeholders from government bodies such as the Catchment Management Authority and the Department of Primary Industries. In this way, we can ensure that the health of the catchment remains everybody’s responsibility.” “Members of the committee ensure that the catchment plan is implemented so it’s a great opportunity for people from Anna Bay to make a difference in their local area.”
