Workshops that don’t cost the earth - Media ReleaseLast modified: September 2, 2008 - 12:25 AM
Port Stephens Council will kick-off a series of free sustainable living workshops commencing in September and running until the end of the year. The workshops provide practical lessons on how simple changes to the home can make a significant difference to our environment. Speaking today Port Stephens Mayor, Councillor Ron Swan said participants would receive valuable tips on the best ways to reduce their ecological footprint and save money in the process. “Port Stephens Council is determined to be a leader in this area. We are focused on reducing the amount of power we waste, and in doing so, encourage our community to do likewise,” he said. Also speaking today, Environmental Education Officer Melinda Anderson said the course topics were wide-ranging with a focus on participation. “These workshops are extremely popular with the public and it’s not hard to see why,” she said.
“They cater for the types of skills that people want to learn. Most of these workshops have been scheduled as a direct result of the demand and feedback we have received.” “Importantly, the workshops are restricted in size to allow for an informal and relaxed presentation, so people will need book. They can do so by phone on 49 800 251 or email melinda.anderson@portstephens.nsw.gov.au” Details of the workshops are as follows:
