Speaking today, Cr Bob Westbury said the facility at Sandy Point Road, Corlette is now double its original size.
"These extensions will provide indoor training facilities, improved storage space for equipment and more room for the volunteers," he said.
"The SES volunteers deserve the best facilities; they volunteer their time to help save lives."
"Before these extensions were built, the volunteers had to do their first aid training outdoors," he continued.
The Hunter Region SES Controller, Greg Perry and Minister for the Hunter Jodi McKay will present the Council with a $50,000 reimbursement cheque at the opening.
The Tomaree SES Unit’s 24 volunteers provide services for storm and water damage, coastal erosion and tsunami evacuation for the eastern half of Port Stephens.
"This is a great example of Council partnering with the community to achieve the best possible results," Cr Westbury said.
"Council has used this partnership approach that harnesses the enthusiasm of the volunteers before at Wallalong and Medowie Fire Stations and it works a treat," he continued.
