Our volunteers are a wonderful asset and we couldn’t run our Libraries or Visitor Information Centre without them. Their local knowledge and enthusiasm promotes our libraries as great community facilities and Port Stephens as a premier tourist destination.
Library volunteers assist library staff immensely and keep our libraries going by re-shelving, cleaning DVDs and CDs, covering books and preparing craft materials for children’s programs. We also have volunteers who assist with exhibitions at the Art Space located in the Raymond Terrace Library, and the Stories in the Street program.
Stories in the Street volunteers visit families at their houses in Raymond Terrace or Medowie one morning a week. They read books and activity stencils to children aged 0-5 yrs and provide educational or community information to parents.
Our Visitor Information Centre couldn’t run without the help of our wonderful volunteers, they assist with information and directions, tour and accommodation enquiries, as well as administration and sales.
If you are interested in becoming one of these volunteers, please make direct enquiries through the contact avenues below. Please note these are very popular activities with only a small number of opportunities available.
