Last modified: July 10, 2008 - 12:20 AM
What is the Loan period on books and resources, how do I make a reservations and what happens if I am overdue in returning my books, DVD's or CDs?
Books and magazines may be borrowed for a period of one month however for popular items this period is reduced to two weeks with no renewal period. Music on CD or Cassette may be borrowed for two weeks and Videos & DVD's for one week. You will be given a receipt that lists what you have borrowed and when it is due to be returned. If an item is not reserved by another customer you can renew it either in person or over the phone. One renewal per item is allowed.
ReservationsIf there is any item you would like to borrow and it is not available, it may be reserved. a reservation fee of $1.00 applies for each reservation. If the item has to be obtained from another library system, a higher fee may be levied. You will be notified by phone or letter when the item becomes available.
Overdue PolicyLike most library services fees are charged for items returned after the due date. If you are late in returning items borrowed, you need to know:
- our overdue fee is 30 cents per item per day (DVD's - $1.00) from the due date including public holidays and Sundays
- we will send you a Reminder Notice, 14 days after the due date, outlining the items outstanding and the overdue fees payable on the date of the notice
- once you accumulate unpaid overdue fees of $10.00 your borrowing privileges will be suspended until the accrued amount is reduced below $10.00
- no overdue fees are charged for material borrowed by children on their own cards
- if children's items are borrowed on an adult's card, and are returned late, an overdue fee will be charged
- if an item is lost, stolen or damaged beyond repair we will ask for the price of the item plus a $6.00 non-refundable processing fee
Please contact us immediately if you receive an Overdue Notice for items you have returned. Items will be considered lost if we have not heard from you within 10 weeks. It is important that you are aware of these rules as they are there to protect you, the customer, as well as staff. We are all working together to provide an accessible, efficient and equitable library service.
