Public notices

Adoption of Port Stephens Development Control Plan 2014 Chapter B8 Road Network and Parking (electric vehicles)

Notice is given that at its meeting on 27 February 2024 Council resolved to adopt the amendment Port Stephens Development Control Plan 2014 Chapter B8 Road Network and Parking (electric vehicles) (DCP). The DCP amendment introduces objectives and development controls to the DCP to require new development to be electric vehicle ready.

The DCP amendment comes into effect from the date of this notice (15 March 2024).


Public Notice of Approval of the Port Stephens Local Infrastructure Plan (Amendment 3)

At its meeting on 12 September 2023 (Minute No. 200), Council endorsed the draft Amended Port Stephens Local Infrastructure Plan (Amendment 3) for public exhibition. The draft was publicly exhibited for 28 days from Thursday 14 September 2023 to Thursday 12 October 2023 in accordance with the Environmental Planning and Assessment Regulations 2021 (NSW) (EP&A Regulation).

At its Ordinary Meeting on 28 November 2023 (Minute No. 277), Council resolved to approve the draft Amended Port Stephens Local Infrastructure Plan (Amendment 3).

The Amendment included minor administrative and policy changes, removal of infrastructure items, the amendment of the amounts required to deliver infrastructure items and the introduction of additional infrastructure items.

The Plan will be in force on the date of this Public Notice (5 December 2023).


Re-establishment of Alcohol Free Zones – Nelson Bay, Raymond Terrace town centre, Lakeside (Raymond Terrace) and Anna Bay

On 13 June 2023, Council resolved to re-establish Alcohol Free Zones at Nelson Bay, Raymond Terrace town centre, Lakeside (Raymond Terrace) and Anna Bay. The Alcohol Free Zones have been re-established for a period of 4 years, from 1st Sept 2024 to 31 August 2027.


Notice of intention to treat infestations of aquatic weeds

Notice is given that Port Stephens Council intends to treat infestations of aquatic weeds on or in drains, depressions and waterways throughout the Council area. Herbicides containing active ingredient 600g/kg Metsulfuron methyl and/or active ingredient 360g/l glyphosate will be used.

Residents in the treatment area should not use, drink or swim in the water during the period of treatment. Small scale reapplications may occur within 30 days of the date of the original treatment.

New ward boundary change from September 2024

Notice is hereby given that the Ward boundaries between West and Central Wards have changed as a result of a Ward boundary review.

The suburb of Boat Harbour has transferred from Central Ward to East Ward, and the area including part of Harvest Road and Waterview Close, Medowie has been transferred from West Ward to Central Ward.

These changes will take effect at the 2024 local government election to be held in September 2024.
