Coastal Summer Festival 2009

The Coastal Summer Festival offers free fun and educational activities relating to our unique coastal and marine environment.  They occur every January and there is something of interest for everyone.

Activities for January 2009 included: Rocky Shore Rambles, Coastal Walks, Snorkelling, Volcanic Shores Walk, Science of the Surf, Marine Park Wonders......

For further information contact the Environmental Education Officer.

Port Stephens Marine Discovery Series

Presentations as part of the Maine Discovery Series occur four times a year at the Tomaree Library and Community Centre.  Experts from a wide range of coastal and marine related areas give informative and enjoyable presentations, which are free.

See the attached flyer for further details.

Project AWARE on the coast

Project AWARE on the coast is a unique community education program to help conserve our marine environment.

This free course features evening lectures and weekend field trips, with a hands-on approach to learning about marine ecology and conservation in the local area.  Participants also undertake a group project and an individual activity to complete the course, with a presentation event at the end.

The 2009 Project AWARE on the coast course is now complete and it is hoped that there will be another course in 2010.
