What is involved in being a Residents Panel Member?

Once a year, Panel Members will be asked to participate by mail or email in a survey on Council's performance and on what is important to the members.
In addition, Panel members may be asked to give their views on specific projects being considered by Council.

Panel Members will be asked to commit to about two hours a year as a minimum, and may also be asked to participate in up to six other consultations.
Members join voluntarily and are free to leave at any time. There is no obligation to participate in the Panel consultations if there is no interest in the topic or the time is inconvenient.
Residents Panel Members may also opt to be part of workshops or focus groups that Council organises from time to time, however there is no obligation to opt in for those types of consultation.

Who can be a Residents Panel Member?

Anyone who is a resident of Port Stephens Local Government Area and who is at least 16 years of age can be a Member of the Residents Panel - Council would like to have a broad spread of ages and locations represented to ensure that the community's voice is heard.

Privacy

Panel Members' details will be kept on a secure database and will not be shared with anyone else.
They will only be used for specific consultation activities and not used for any other purpose, nor will Panel Members' identity be revealed to third parties within or outside Council.
Any views expressed will be collated with those of other Panel Members and not individually identified.

Communication

Communication will be predominantly by mail or email. Council undertakes to provide back to each Panel Member feedback on each consultation, and what decisions Council has made as a result of the input of Panel Members.

Please complete the application form (MS Word version) on this page, then save it and email the completed form as an attachment to residentspanel@portstephens.nsw.gov.au
