Child Protection Policy

Last modified: October 12, 2007 - 10:22 AM

To ensure that Council provides a safe, caring and nurturing environment for children and young people using Council's services and to comply with the requirements of the legislative framework covering the protection of children and young people.

The New South Wales government has introduced a number of legislative changes relating to the employment of people working with children and to the handling of complaints against staff working with children.

These legislative changes apply to staff, contractors and volunteers of Council. Under the legislation, a child is a person under 16 years of age and a young person is a person aged 16 or 17 years.
