PSC425 - Gardener Operator - 2 Positions

Our Gardener Operators play an important role in keeping Councils Parks, Reserves and Sports fields in great shape for our community and our visitors.  We are seeking applicants who are committed to Councils objectives of providing quality customer service in a safe, efficient and effective manner.

You will need to consistently demonstrate your ability and willingness to actively participate as a team member while positively responding to change in the workplace demands and provide support to other staff, volunteers, external contractors and the general public.

Generally the work is horticultural based with tasks including turf maintenance and renovation, landscape construction and maintenance, vegetation and playground maintenance.  Experience in the operation of Horticultural equipment including tractors, large out-front mowers and boom sprays and the skills used in the maintenance of landscaped garden beds will be highly regarded.

Skills, Knowledge & Capabilities (Selection Criteria).

  • Demonstrated commitment to a customer service culture and delivery of quality service;
  • Conduct that demonstrates to others Councils commitment to Respect, Integrity, Teamwork, Excellence and Safety while contributing to Councils philosophy of maintaining a program of continuous improvement under the guidelines of the Australian Business Excellence Framework;
  • Demonstrated experience and ability in the maintenance and development of recreational facilities using methods for the safe operation and basic maintenance of horticultural machinery such as large our front mowers, trctors, chainsaws, pesticide sprayers and edgers;
  • Knowledge of irrigation and playground maintenance systems;
  • Current Class LR drivers licence;
  • WorkCover General Construction Induction Greencard;
  • Understanding of safe work method statements;
  • Good mathematical skills;
  • Knowledge and experience in maintaining landscaped garden bed areas;

Salary Range: $692.22 - $791.52 per (38 hour) week with a monthly RDO.

Appointment is subject to satisfactory completion of probationary period.
