Port Stephens Council is committed to providing high quality sport facilities and services to the local community as well as bringing sporting teams and events to the area.

Port Stephens is a thriving community with great diversity. Although often perceived as a wealthy tourist and retirement destination, the area has a broad range of residents from different socio-economic backgrounds. It is an area that attracts both families with children and older residents.

Port Stephens has a population of approximately 1400 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as identified in the 2001 Census. The Census measured the population at 56,680 persons, a number that swells possibly as much as three times during the holiday periods.
