Where is Port Stephens?

Port Stephens is a major tourist destination located 200km north of the Sydney Harbour Bridge on the east coast of New South Wales, Australia.  The travelling time by road is approximately 2 1/2 hours.

How to get there:

From Sydney

Take the Pacific Highway north and turn right onto the F3 Freeway just before Hornsby.

Continue travelling north over the Mooney Mooney Bridge, and past the Newcastle turn off, following
the signs for “Taree”. Do not take any exits.

At the end of the Freeway, turn right at the roundabout, following the sign “Hexham and Pacific Highway” (BP service station and Burger King will be on your next left). The road veers to the right and merges with the New England Highway after which you should enter the left lane and look for the sign “Taree & Pacific Highway” which directs you over the Hexham Bridge.

You are now on the Pacific Highway heading north. For Raymond Terrace, Karuah and the hinterland, follow the signs along the Pacific Highway. To get to the coastal areas follows signs to Taree.

Look for the “next exit Richardson Road for Raymond Terrace/Nelson Bay” sign. The Richardson Road exit is about a kilometre further on and will take you to a roundabout. Turn right and follow the signs to Nelson Bay.

Depending on your exact destination, look for the appropriate turn off to Tanilba Bay and Lemon Tree Passage or Soldiers Point and Salamander Bay or continue on for the coastal areas of Anna Bay, Nelson Bay, Shoal Bay and Fingal Bay.

By Plane

From Newcastle city centre it is a twenty minute drive to the Airport via Industrial Drive and Nelson Bay Road.

It can also be accessed via Tomago Road and Richardson Rd both of which run off the Pacific Highway north of Hexham Bridge.
Newcastle Airport is signposted from the Pacific Highway which passes through Newcastle and across Port Stephens.

The airport entrance is sited on Nelson Bay Road.

Visit the Newcastle Airport website for further details.
